The City of Dreams –Mumbai

If “aamar Kolkata” is the City of Joy than “aamchi Mumbai” is the City of Dreams. People, from all over come with a dream. Some become actors some gangsters, some artists some labourers some billionaires and some beggars.   Some dreams come true, some turn into dust. Some compromise, some go in retreat. Every minute migrants multiply and so does the mood of the city. Whoa!!! Such plethoras of emotions run down the vein of the city – complaints, content, delight, despair, failure and felicitation so on and so forth
Mumbai is India’s financial powerhouse and the fashion capital. Where on one hand Mumbai is the tinsel town of India on the other hand it has the world’s largest slum area- Dharavi. Empowering skyscrapers sprout alongside mosquito infested shantytowns.  On one hand there is the glamour studded world of who’s who of Bollywood and rich industrialists who form the shaan of Page 3 but the real heroes are the so called middle class. Come what may – floods, bomb blasts, terror attacks- the next moment a Mumbaikar is up with life kicking enthusiasm and energy.
Work is actually emotionally worshipped. Respect for hard work and sincerity is at a high irrespective of class, caste or status. No wonder we see dabbawalas delivering lectures to management students on time management.  So widespread is their time management kissas that they have earned the honour of being invited at Prince Charles wedding.
A Mumbaikar is just a Mumbaikar  – a mix of everything yet not revealing the native place he/she belongs to. It has given birth to its own language the bambaiiya hindi:-a mixed breed. Mumbai is mini India – aggressively modern yet rooted in tradition, glamorous yet raw charmingly cosmopolitan yet emotionally Indian. A city that dances to its own rhythm.
Mumbai is not about sight but all about experiences. A city that never sleeps – pulsating, alive, vibrant, violent and much more. It is the ever changing face of today’s India. To celebrate the persona of this great city we launched a bushirt (new name of t-shirt) which clearly defines the essence of this great city “Mumbai”.
So all the Mumbaikars or the people who want to transform big dreams into reality in this city can grab this bushirt and flaunt your love towards this city.
